Rockland / Northport Regatta

 

July 10 & 11, 2004

 

This year’Äôs race will be from Northport to Rockland on Saturday and Rockland to Northport on Sunday

 

Friday July 9

 

  • Moorings at Northport Yacht Club will be minimal or non-existent.  Plan on anchoring/raft-up or Belfast may be an alternative.
  • The Northport Yacht Club House will be open Friday evening.
  • Parking is available at the Northport Yacht parking lot.
  • Please use the Northport Yacht Club dinghy float for your dinghies. 

 

Saturday July 10

 

  • 7:00 AM Northport Yacht Club House will be open.
  • 8:30 AM Coffee, donuts and bagels at the Northport Yacht Club House.
  • 9:00 AM Skippers meeting at the Northport Yacht Club House.
  • 11:00 AM Race starts between Northport Yacht Club Spire on the NYC dock and an orange marker in the water.  Start times will be hosted by    TBD
  • Race course to Rockland to be announced

Starting Sequence

*Approximately 1 minute to start of sequence there will be a series of short blasts.

5 Minutes:              Red flag up

4 Minutes:              Blue flag up ’Äì One short horn blast

1 Minutes:              Blue flag down ’Äì One long horn blast

Start:                      One long horn blast ’Äì Red flag down

 

  • Race Finish ’Äì Rockland lighthouse and Committee Boat hosted by  TBD  Committee Boat is TBD 
  • All boats must have a PHRF rating, if not one will be assigned.
  • All boats must have sail numbers on the sails or rail and all required Coast Guard safety equipment.
  • Registration fee is $35.00 each boat.
  • Communication:

*         VHF channels 68 and 16

*        Alternate due to traffic channel 72

  • Weather conditions may change start location of the race.
  • After the Saturday race a barbeque is planned at the Rockland Yacht Club.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and desserts are provided and cooked by the Rockland/Northport Yacht Clubs.  Everyone is welcome.
  • During the barbeque the race results for Saturday will be posted.
  • Visiting racing yachts from Northport Yacht Club may tie up at the Atlantic Challenge Dock or take their chances on vacant private moorings or rentals in the North Bay
  • Parking is available at the ACF parking lot
  • Please use the RYC dinghy float for your dinghies. It is attached to the AFC Dock.

 

 

Sunday July 11

 

  • 8:00 AM Coffee, donuts and bagels at the Rockland Yacht Club House.
  • 9:00 AM Skippers meeting at the Rockland Yacht Club House.  Racecourse to Northport to be announced.
  • 10:30 AM Race starts between Rockland lighthouse and Committee Boat hosted by TBD  Committee Boat is TBD
