January 2004

Sunday January 18, 2004: General and annual budget meeting at the ACF starting at 4:00pm. Among other business the proposed annual budget will be discussed and voted on followed by a pot luck supper. (The proposed budget is in this newsletter.)

Sunday February 15, 2004: General meeting.

Sunday March 21: General meeting with finalized reports from the activities, cruise, and race committees.

RYC clothing order forms will be available at the January meeting.

RYC Membership: Over 50% of last year's membership has renewed as of this date. Members who participate in racing need to know that no free races are available prior to joining. Only members of recognized yacht clubs (other than RYC) will be able to participate in RYC races for a fee TBD per each race.

Cancellation of meetings due to weather conditions will be made by 11 am (if not before) the day of a meeting. You can contact Bruce at 236-6217 if the traveling looks hazardous. An attempt to send an email will be done after 11am. It should be noted that last year a power failure occurred just as Bruce was typing a cancellation notice for a meeting.

Commodore's Locker:

WOW - Another new year has started. The RYC Executive Committee wishes all a very special HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Diane Hebert is receiving membership renewals and wants me to remind members that this is the month (and February) to join. If you have friends interested in joining the RYC, invite them to a meeting, other club event or look at the web site.

I checked the Farmer's Almanac and what do you know? Every Tuesday and Saturday race looks to have sunny skies with winds between 12 and 20 knots. All of the cruise dates will have no fog, pleasant seas to boat on, and comfortable anchorages. Doesn't this just look to good to be true? A breathtaking boating summer for all!

Hope to see you all at the meeting and pot luck supper.

Sincerely, Bruce Stedman
