Please consider donating to the Atlantic Challenge Community Sail Replacement Program

Doug Pope is working with Atlantic Challenge to provide new sails for the Community Sailing 420 fleet, which are badly in need of replacement. He has offered donate the labor free of charge, but cost of materials need to be funded. Donations to this worthy cause are tax deductable - checks can be made out to Atlantic Challenge, indicating that it is to be used for the Sail Replacement Program. Contact Doug Pope via e-mail (doug@popesails.com) or Colin Teal at Atlantic Challenge to get more details.

The votes are in!

RYC members met at Pope Sails and Rigging on Sunday, May 6 to vote on the proposed lease agreement between the City of Rockland and RYC to rent a portion of the Harbormaster’s building. The lease includes the club’s plans to make some improvements inside the building. Before voting, there was an opportunity for the 47 attending members to get some last minute clarifications on the proposed lease and make a short statement. Prior to the vote, there was a motion to authorize Commodore Charles Faulkingham to sign the proposed lease if it was accepted and that motion was granted. Members who were not able to attend the meeting were able to vote by proxy via a member in attendance. Many absent members took advantage of this opportunity – there were 71 votes in all. The Club voted 66 for and 5 against to accept the proposal and will rent a portion of the building that was originally the Rockland Yacht Club clubhouse. After the results of the vote were announced, Charles talked about the work ahead. Our thanks to the members of the Negotiating Committee for all their hard work and extensive effort to bring RYC to this point!

RYC Web Site changes underway!

A new look for the RYC Web site is coming soon, as reported in the recent RYC Newsletter to our members. We're working with the RYC Executive Committee to develop new updated content, and a more regular, consistent and vibrant approach to getting information of interest to the membership out to you via our Web site.

Our target is to have this in place in advance of this summer's boating season. In order to accomplish this, we will not update this site, with some minor exceptions (such as this homepage) to ensure that the new site can be made operational as soon as possible. For now, we have left the original content to show the activities that have been part of the Rockland Yacht Club in the past.

Please bear with us but do come back again!
